Save Money On Gas By Using The World's Most Popular Form Of Transportation

Quick what’s the most popular type of vehicle in the world?

Nope, it’s not the car. Think of something you learned how to drive when you were a little younger.

That’s right, it’s the bicycle. At a population of over 1 billion, bicycles are the world’s most popular form of transportation (not including walking).

Also, the bicycle is the most efficient means of transportation, even more efficient than walking.

For example, did you know that on just 100 calories a bicyclist can go 3 miles, but using the equivalent amount of energy in a car would only get your 280 feet (.

Unfortunately, due to the wide open spaces in America, we’ve turned from human powered transportation to fossil fuel burning cars. However, with gas prices going up at such a ridiculous rate, it may be time to go in the garage and dust off your bicycle.

After all, if you live in town, it may very well be the most efficient way to get around especially if traffic is heavy. Have you ever been sitting in stop and go traffic only to watch a cyclist blow right on by? If you’ve been downtown on any major city during rush hour, you’ve probably seen this many times.

If the fact that it doesn’t cost you any gas doesn’t persuade you, how about the fact that it helps you get in better shape. You can multitask by getting your exercise for the day in while simultaneously getting to work or running your errands.

So stop thinking about the bicycle as just a recreational toy and start thinking of it like they do in parts of China and Holland, and start thinking of it as a means of primary transportation.
